Numerous awards are available for students of Ukrainian Folklore, administered by the University of Alberta, by the Kule Centre in Ukrainian and Canadian Folklore, and through a variety of other resources.

Graduate Awards and Scholarships

Kuryliw Family Research Assistantship in Honour of Ivan Franko

($500) Awarded to compete a research project in the area of Ukrainian performing arts or ritual.

Sochan Ukrainian Folklore Essay Award

($250 plus assistance in publishing the article) Awarded to the best essay written for a Ukrainian Folklore class.

Postdoctoral Awards

Kule Postdoctoral Fellowship

($40,000 per year plus $3000 research expenses, pro-rated)

Friends of the Ukrainian Folklore Centre Student Award - Note change in the deadline!

(max 24 @ $250) Awarded to students enrolled in a Ukrainian folklore course on the basis of academic standing.

Friends of the Ukrainian Folklore Centre Dance Award - Note change in the deadline!

(5 @ $1000) Awarded to students on the basis of superior Ukrainian dance potential and completion of the Ukrainian Dance course.

Kawulych Ukrainian Folklore Undergraduate Award

(max 2 @ $500) Awarded to students enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program in Ukrainian Folklore on the basis of academic standing.

(max 2 @ $500) Awarded to students for highest grades received in MLCS 204, MLCS 205 or other recognized Folklore classes.

Vera Gordey Smith Memorial Scholarship

(1 @ $500) Awarded to a student with superior academic achievement in the Faculty of Arts studying Ukrainian folklore.
